ACTIVITY 3
Write and record a skit for a pirate T.V show
The Pirates are bored of the ye'old telli, and be need'n your help. In groups of four you will need to make a 5 minutes "skit" to appear on the ye'old televison program "PIRATES A'HOY" that airs on the sea lov'n pirates ship. To complete this activity your group of four will need to do the following:
1. Open and print the following PDF each of you will need a copy.
2. Use the printed PDF to help write a script for your group appearance on "PIRATES A'HOY".
3. Your script can be about anything you see on the T.V. i.e. advertisments, the weather report, daily news , comedy shows e.t.c.
4.Your script must use language (words) from the printed PDF (Pirate Vocabulary List)
5. You must then learn/ practice how to speak like a pirate. At the bottom of this page will be resources to help you do this.
6. When your group is confident with your script and pirate speech, collect an assortment of costumes and accessories from the front of the classroom.
7. Dress up like pirates and prepare to record your very own pirate skits.
8. Whilst you are preforming your pirate skits another group (as allocated by the teacher) will be recording you on a digital video camera.
9. These recordings will then be downloaded onto the computer for later viewing and assessment.
10. Below is some extra information to help you complete todays activity.
11. Once ye' be finished, be' gettn' your sea legs on to move onto the fourth and final activity for NDPIRATES ACTIVITY 4
Do you know how to talk like a pirate? Here be some tips and words to use to make you sound like a pirate ARGH!!!
Subsitiute beforareorisin your speech whenever possible.
Examples: Where be the books? What be for dinner?
Who be your favorite pirate?
Change simple verbs to be+-in’.
Examples: let’s be eatin’ dessert! He be walkin’ the dog.
She be takin’ out the trash.
